On September 1, 2010, the name of the U.S. Military
operation in Iraq was changed from Operation Iraqi Freedom to Operation New
Dawn to mark the end of the combat mission in Iraq, and to reflect the reduced
role U.S. troops are playing in securing Iraq.
All the U.S. troops were withdrawn at the end of 2011, but while they were there, 66 soldiers were lost in this operation designed to assist the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF). Their names of the fallen are listed below so that their sacrifice will always be remembered.
