| On November 5, 2009 in the Soldier Readiness Center of the Fort Hood, Texas US military base, Nidal Malik Hasan, a U.S. Army major, psychiatrist, and American-born Muslim of Palestinian descent opened fire killing 12 military personnel and 1 civilian and wounding more than 30.
On April 2, 2014, in a shooting spree that occurred across several locations on the Fort Hood military base, Army Specialist Ivan Lopez shot and killed four people and wounded 14 others.
