Pan Am Flight 103
On December 21, 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 took off from Heathrow Airport in England bound for Kennedy Airport in New York, NY. A bomb exploded over Lockerbie Scotland killing all 259 people (243 passengers and 16 crew members) on board. 179 of the passengers were Americans, and 31 were from the United Kingdom. On the ground, 11 Lockerbie residents were also killed by falling debris.
